it's book launch time!

Hey, y’all!

Believe it or not, it’s almost time! In just a few short weeks, on April 7th, Human(Kind): How Reclaiming Human Worth and Embracing Radical Kindness Will Bring Us Back Together (WaterBrook & Multnomah) will officially be released into the world. Here’s what I know for sure: this is not about me. Although stories from my life are shared throughout  the book, this is really a rally cry that I hope ignites a kindness revolution, one that will help us reclaim our belief in the best of humanity. There has to be another way beyond the apathy, contentious rhetoric, and dehumanization that is becoming the hallmarks of how we relate to one another. But the most effective revolutions had some power behind them: the power of prayer, the power of passion, the power of people. 

So I don’t dare release this book baby and her message alone. I need prayerful, passionate people - a crew of kindness revolutionaries - who will commit to helping me release her well. 

What is a launch team? It’s a group of people that is passionate about a book and its message. These people believe in who an author is and what he or she (hi!) has to say. They find joy and value in sharing that message with other people through myriad platforms, both online and in person through positive reviews, social media posts and mentions, and conversations. The launch team is a crew that unapologetically shows up!

What’s this book about? Human(Kind) is a very personal plea for not just inviting kindness back into the folds of possibility in our relationships and interactions - but to claim it as a necessary part of our path forward if we’re to engage humanity with awe and holy regard. Here’s the catch: to do that we’ll need to look at our own stories. We’ve all been formed to either be kind - or not so kind - to ourselves. And how we treat our own stories is inextricably tied to how we engage others. 

This is not just another book about being nice to people. I hope that you will find your own story tucked somewhere in the folds of these chapters. I hope it causes you to pause, think, reflect. I hope you fall more in love with your God-given story - and its Author - by the end. I hope you allow curiosity, love and meekness to grow. I hope you find kindness worth it and that you find people worthy of their God-given likenesses.

Six weeks in length: four weeks prior to book launch and two weeks following.

LAUNCH TEAM MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS

If you are selected to be part of the launch team, you’ll be asked to:

  • Read the book.

  • Within 72 hours after release, write a one to two sentence review on at least two of the following sites: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ChristianBook.com, Booksamillion, or Goodreads.

  • Share the book on your social media platforms. (We’ll provide shareable material!)

  • Suggest Human(Kind) to a book club, library, local bookstore - or give to friends as gifts - assuming you like it. :)

Your application means more than you know! Thank you for taking the time to be a part of this. Although I’m deeply appreciative for each one of you, applications must be limited to keep the launch team to a manageable size. Early birds and thorough applications will be weighed considerably. The application will close at midnight EST on Tuesday March 3, 2020.

We’ll email you to let you know if you have been accepted to the launch team. If you don’t hear anything by March 3, know that although we couldn’t squeeze you onto the launch team,  you’re always invited to participate through social media as details release during the launch timeframe.
